Sam F. Gautreau, of Pré-d'en-Haut, passed away Friday morning, April 11, at his home after an illness of only a few days, at the age of 87.
Born in Pré-d'en-Haut, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Gautreau, he was highly regarded and will be long remembered by those who knew him.
Mr. Gautreau is survived by his wife, the former Henriette Cormier; six children, Henri at home, Elzéar and Léonide, of Moncton, Mrs. Anastase Gautreau (Albina), of Moncton, Mrs. Séverin Bourgeois (Nélida), of Dieppe, Mrs. Gérald LeBlanc (Corinne), of Lakeburn; also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Azade Landry, of Bathurst, who was present at the time of his death.
The funeral was held Monday morning, with services in St. Joseph's Church, at St. Joseph. The pallbearers were six grand-sons: Cléophas, Denis, Norman and Laurie Gautreau, Eddie Bourgeois and Fred Bourgeois.
